wayward apron vase

wayward apron vase

h 33cm

this piece has been constructed from 4 wheel-thrown parts.

the body is a closed globular shape that was later flattened
and reopened where the neck has been attached.
an apron-like section was added to the lower part of the body
and a tall footring to the base.

the celadon glaze I used on this piece is quite runny
and depending on the thickness of the glaze coat
goes from green to blue and even white.
the edge of the “apron” has been softened by glaze drops.
this undulating edge makes a nice contrast
to masculine shape of the vase
